The results of the first round matches were:

BCA 5 Vectis A 2
Freshwater C 5 Freshwater A 3
Yarmouth 5 Freshwater B 3
Westlands B 5 Newport 4
Vectis B 5 Wroxall B 3
Ryde D 5 Westlands A 1
Ryde A 5 Fairway 2
Cowes awarded tie against Ryde B who withdrew.
So as to produce 8 teams for the quarter finals, it is necessary to play an additional match which will be Cowes v Westlands B, to be played before christmas.

Mallett Cup Draw
The draw for the first round of this season’s Mallett Cup has been made.
Ties will be played Week Commencing 11th November

Sad News
It is with regret that we have to announce that Melvyn Price, who skippered the county over 65 team for the last two years has recently passed away. His first success in a tournament was winning the masters mixed doubles in 1998 with Linda Lucas and he followed that success by winning the John Asher tournament two years later with J.Rivers. In recent years he was a member of the Ryde D team that won Div 3 in 2017 and last season represented Newport.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday 11th June 10:30 at the crematorium.

Congratulations to Ryde Kings A who have won the first division for the first time. With a match still to play, they remain undefeated throughout the season.

Coaching course
We are trying to run a level 1 coaching course on the Island for those wishing to become coaches. At the moment we would like to know who is interested to find out whether there is a demand. The course will run for three days and will cost approx 225 GBP however this could be subsidised for Isle of Wight County Badminton members.
